To help the economy, everyone has to save, also the poor

Especially in times of recession, banks should encourage saving across all income groups, but this isn’t always the case. Although poor people do save, they mostly hand their money over to unregulated savings clubs. To protect them, a savings account is necessary, but UK banks show almost complete disinterest in targeting poor savers, while they are too risky. Banks need to make saving more attractive and this will require help from the government.
